Modern Whole House Remodel on Stone Meadow Drive
in Preston Hollow, Dallas
Homeowner Challenge
This magnificent house was purchased as a secondary home by our clients who resided in Florida and needed a place in close proximity to their grandchildren. While the home’s location and floorplan fit their needs exactly, the interior design aesthetics did not. During the initial walk through with interior designer Lisa Barron, Dallas Design Group Interiors, the couple commented, “We love this home but we are going to change everything.” The home’s initial interior came with ornate trim and millwork, heavily textured walls, hand-scraped wood floors and beams, as well as natural stone countertops.
Design-Build Solution
To fit a more preferred modern motif, the walls were opened up between rooms, walls and ceilings were textured with a smooth finish, stone counters were replaced with Quartz, wood floors were sanded and finished smooth, ornate trim and millwork was removed, and the entire house was painted various shades of grey.
Ultimately, this newly renovated house was transformed from “old world traditional” to a lighter and brighter modern home with cleaner lines.
