Homeowner Challenge

Our client purchased this traditional style home in a very upscale neighborhood knowing that he needed it to be redesigned to reflect his love for modern art and architecture.

Design-Build Solution

After Capital Renovations Group completed this homeowner’s kitchen remodel, we focused on transforming a very traditional backyard into a contemporary outdoor living space—a platform for relaxation.

Our prominent design team (interior designer, architect, landscape designer and swimming pool contractor) got to work transforming a very traditional backyard into a contemporary outdoor living and entertaining space. French patio doors and windows were replaced with Western windows and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. The new porch structure was supported with new steel support beams and posts. Engineered wood beams were incorporated into the design to carry the load of the second story above, featuring new doors and windows. To better entertain guests, we added an outdoor grilling station with a pass-through window to the kitchen.

Patio

The new raised patio was designed with a twelve-foot custom skylight, Big Ass fan, low voltage lighting and exposed fir rafters and ceiling. Automatic shades were added to mitigate the intense Texas afternoon sunshine. A standing seam metal roof, half round gutters, stucco facade, and a fresh coat of paint complete the look.

Pool

The pool was completely renovated with a new shallow tanning ledge, glass mosaic tile, limestone pool coping and a premium plaster finish. The existing exposed aggregate pool deck concrete was removed and replaced with architectural concrete in a modern charcoal finish.

Landscape Design

Last but not least, a thoughtful landscape design created the perfect outdoor oasis complete with a new firepit area and a carefully thought out lighting plan that transformed the whole yard into a bold, illuminated showplace.
